Fernando António Baptista Pereira (do texto do catálogo)
In the paintings of great dimensions by Luís Herberto, as well as in the concise studies on paper, there is a impressive domination of the human figure, either in its (only apparent) ontological fragility or in its ineffable loneliness, even though or even so when offered to the voyeuristic eye of the spectator, suggests much more than meets the eye, and stimulates the imagination, to see beyond what is there. The monumental compositions of Luís Herberto distinguish themselves equally by a scrupulous pictorial work of definition of vast spaces, diffused or neutralized which the figures display due to a constant work of colour namely the form. The pictorial work, does not disregard the citation of the genres and the numerous times before in the History of Painting, defining, thus, a poetry that understands the painting as an original and elaborated cloth of its various times, when concept and creation are in harmony and mutually valued in the expression of difference, which is above all artistic, but also situated in the plan of conviction more deep in relation to the attitudes and ruptures in the cultural taboos.
